Question: Describe the difference between saturation and lamination and why is it important?
Answer: Saturation vs lamination creates a very different acting sheet, especially when you’re looking at single-ply systems.
With lamination, there are different layers of the roof membrane – polymer, scrim and then the polymer from the bottom to top. Lamination is just a straight almost gluing together of those layers. They can then part, which can cause roof failure.
Saturation, in contrast, has the polymer moving through the whole scrim so it’s a continuous face through the whole membrane. This keeps the membrane from actually delaminating or coming apart. Saturation will not allow that to happen.
