Answer: Falls from skylights comprise 29 percent of all fatalities in the construction industry. And, people tend to ignore the risk that skylights present. We at Simon Roofing consider skylight to be an “open roof” and we treat them accordingly. If a skylight or skylights are present, we protect them by covering them with material that follows all OSHA administration guidelines. That might be a cover that is attached and designed to hold at least what we would expect of the employee and any material that we would place on it. We can also protect them with other types of approved barricades.
