Sustainable Roofing & Building Systems
The approach of sustainable building has always been to maximize efficiency resulting in economic and environmental benefit.
While Simon Roofing understands the benefits of sustainable building practices; we also understand the associated complexities. It is this understanding that lead us to develop what no other roofing company has — comprehensive sustainable roof systems accompanied by supportive/environmental services.
Simon's Sustainable Systems and Services program comprises the most comprehensive and cutting edge solutions for all of your roofing needs. They are high quality, cost effective, environmentally responsible, meet all federal, state and local regulations and contribute to LEED certification.
Sustainable Roofing Systems
SuperiorFlex Eco
Virtually the last roof you will ever have to purchase. Simon's SuperiorFlex Eco captures the essence of Cradle to Cradle philosophy, ensuring it's not only efficient but also waste free. The zero-landfill system uses a 100% recycled substrate that is held together with a VOC free binding agent and covered with our cool roof Envirogreen Wite-Brite elastomeric coating. Not only can this roof system be recoated, extending the life of the roof, but once it reaches the end of its life cycle the entire roof can be removed, reground on-site, reapplied and recoated.
- Exceeds LEED, ENERGY STAR, CRRC and all energy code and cool roof requirements
- Qualifies for energy rebates and other financial incentives
- Eliminates ponding water/low spots during re-roofing operation
- Enhances runoff collection by cisterns or storm water/irrigation management devices when surfaces are angled
- SRI = 103 (Reflectivity = .82 / Emissivity = .88)
Vegetated Roofing
Simon's vegetated roof systems are customized systems designed to provide the highest level of performance based on your geographic climate, energy and environmental needs.
In partnership with Europe's leading vegetated roofing installer and grower, Simon can assist you with engineering and waterproofing these vegetated blankets with our patented Seal Max membrane. Additionally, our Sustainability Department will work with you to identify and obtain available government incentives.
- SuperiorFlex Seal Max waterproof membrane is impervious to root penetration
- Optional Lifetime Maintenance program
- Vector mapping
- LEED assistance
Wite-Brite EnviroGreen
Wite-Brite EnviroGreen is an elastomeric coating that can be brush or spray applied. As with all of Simon's EnviroGreen certified, cool roof products, Wite-Brite contains non-ozone depleting chemicals, is compliant with Cool Roof Rating Council (CRRC) standards and is LEED credit compliant.
- Exceeds LEED, ENERGY STAR, CRRC and energy code cool roof requirements
- Contains highest elongation properties (1000%) and greater than 60% latex solid content
- Qualifies for tax rebates and financial incentives
Solar Applications
As a roofing contractor Simon has no vested interest in any particular Photovoltaic (PV) system; we let the building dictate which system will provide the highest rate of energy return. We are one of the only companies that can provide and install all major solar roofing systems. In partnership with Advanced Green Technologies, a solar technology innovator, Simon can provide you with a written report using multiple PV system scenarios allowing you to compare costs versus benefits. This not only helps you choose the right system, but also maximize your return on investment.
- Simon Roofing is an approved installer of all reflective membranes and PV systems
- Simon's Sustainability Department will ensure the appropriate system is selected and the maximum ROI achieved
- Can identify and help to obtain federal, state and local financial incentives applicable to PV roof systems
Sustainable Building Maintenance Systems
Waste Membrane Diversion Program
Utilizing our nationwide network of PVC, TPO, EPDM and TPA recyclers, Simon is in a unique position to help building owners meet municipal construction and demolition (C&D) diversion mandates and sustainable building codes. In the rare event our recyclers can't accept a used membrane, Simon's Sustainability Department will still work with you to determine what alternative diversionary solutions are available.
- Cost-savings – many municipalities are now charging extra tax to landfill C&D debris
- Reduce waste output
- Building code and Corporate Responsibility Policy compliant
- Documentation and LEED credit compliance assistance
Roofing Life Cycle Analysis
Life-Cycle Analysis (LCA) is the science of measuring the environmental effects of a building "from cradle to grave," from the harvesting and extraction of the materials used to make the building to its ultimate disposal. Simon Roofing meets with clients to determine cost/benefits both economic and environmental, of a proposed roof design and if an alternative roof design would be more efficient and/or offer a higher return on investment.
- Compare roof systems and their benefits before making a 10+ year decision
- Achieve the highest ROI
- Written LCA reports are based on
- Initial costs
- Residual value
- Operation, maintenance, repair
- Finance charges
- Replacement costs
- Non-monetary benefits or costs
Roof Energy Assessment
Simon can perform a roof energy load assessment to determine how much energy is being used, how much can be saved and at what cost. By assisting you in understanding the importance of energy efficiency and associated cost, you‘ll be able to determine the roofing system that will reduce future energy costs and maximize environmental benefits.
- Comparison reports detailing energy consumption of current versus proposed roof systems
- Guidance on meeting or exceeding ASHRE 90.1, state and local energy codes
- Assistance in identifying and obtaining energy-efficiency rebates, incentives and grant opportunities
LEED
Simon furthers the development of high performance buildings by offering free assistance with credit interpretation from our staff LEED AP. We also can decipher ever-changing sustainable building codes. Additionally, we provide documentation for LEED credit compliance and local building code requirements.
- Maximize your ability to receive the most LEED credits possible (NCv2.2 and v3, EBO&M)
- Stay current about green building codes and avoid non-compliance issues
- Receive assistance in identifying and obtaining federal, state and local Green Building incentives
